Dear Sirs

I use TPA1517 for my new design.

Vcc=14.5V

I want to drive 4 ohm, 5 Watts speaker.

What is the Icc Max value ( for pin16 )?

Could you provide me equation for current and VCC 4 ohm, 5 Watts speaker?

Hi Nat,

Unfortunately there is not a formula available to calculate current consumption but according to Figure 1 from datasheet you should expect Icc to be around 50mA. The max value for Icc (90mA) can be found in Electrical Characteristics table at the bottom of page 3, this table was obtained with Vcc=14.5V.

If output Max power = 5W
Input Max power (from Icc) = 14.5V x 90mA => 1.3 W ??
Please clarify it. Thank you!

Hi Nat,

Your calculation seems good.
You can also take a look at TPA312xD2(these are SE output amps) if Class-D fits in your application.
