LM48511 damage issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM48511

Hi.

Please help me ASAP.

I use Speaker is 2W/8Ohm and the schematic is attached below.

Some LM48511 is broken by unknown reason.

Broken LM45811's VDD and GND is shorted, I think HSFET is damaged.

Why this problem is occurred? Please let me know ASAP.

What point is I can debug?

In normal case, V1 and PV1 is 8~8.5V. not 7.8V (according to Table 3. Recommended Regulator Input and Output Voltages in datasheet).

Why this boost output is high?

  • Hello SS Jung

You could measure output signals, input signals and power supply to analyze them. That will be useful to search the problem.
Please let me know your comments.

  • Hi SS Jung-san,

There is mentioned about the output short circuit and thermal overload protection in LM48511 data sheet.
However, it seems that LM48511 has only the thermal overload protection.
Therefore, LM48511 may be damaged if the output FET is accidentally short-circuited to ground when connecting the speaker.

Could you please contact your local field sales office for more information ?

    Best regards,
