TAS2553: Is it possible to use TAS2553 with external PVDD supply?

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: TAS2553

Hi Team,

I believe external PVDD supply isn't recommended from the following description in datasheet.

On the other hand, it seems usable according to the following thread.
https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers/audio_amplifiers/f/6/t/547747

My customer wants to use TAS2553 without inductor for boost converter, however I debate whether to suggest the solution or not.
May I have your advice?

If it is usable, I believe the following setting is required.
Register 0x02 (Configuration Register 2): BOOST_EN = 0, APT_EN = 0

  • Hi Yaita-san,

The TAS2553 need to control the PVDD supply, that's why it cannot be supplied externally.
The device might not work properly if the voltage is externally supplied.
I will correct my last answer in the previous post.
