PCM5142EVM-U: Error message on PurePath Studio(Home audio)

Part Number: PCM5142EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3262EVM-U, TLV320AIC3254EVM-K, PCM5141

Hi,

A customer asks to us about an error message of PurePath Studio(Home Audio) using PCM5142EVM-U.
The error message is as follows;

Error: MiniDSP failed to change adaptive buffer, pending bit remain set, reset target.

What kind of situation will cause the error mentioned above?
Would you teach us a workaround?

I also have seen this error message many times when PPS(Portable Audio) using TLV320AIC3254EVM-K or TLV320AIC3262EVM-U remained only few resources.

Best regards,

Akio Ito

  • Hi, Ito-san,

    In general, that error message appears when the C-RAM (coefficient RAM) is not being swapped. This typically happens when the miniDSPs are not running. For the miniDSPs to run properly, the master clock and I2S bus must be present and analog part of the device must be configured properly. Could you please verify that the PCM5141 is correctly configured and clocks provided to the device are stable?. Do you know if the EVM connection with the software (PPS or CS) is successful? if not the issue could be related to the firmware of the board.

  • Hello, Diego-san,

    Thank you for the answer. I understand this error message shows ACSW bit (p44_r1_b0) does not return to zero.
    However, the customer said that one PC could operate with no error, but two PCs displayed this error message and could not operate the same process flow on the same EVM. I don't know why these difference happen. What do you think about it?
