PCM4222EVM: Using the PCM4222 Evaluation Module

Part Number: PCM4222EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM4222, DIT4192

The PCM4222EVM evaluation module is a good value for anyone wanting to do a PCM4222 design or for someone simply wanting a very high-quality A/D converter board for test and measurement or recording.

Over the years there have been a number of posts online at the Gearslutz forum, here at the TI forum and elsewhere on how to use this board. One of the questions that always comes up is "How do I mount this thing?" There are no mounting holes...

DIP switch setting can also be a little difficult on the PCM4222EVM owing to the fact that two pull-up resistors are missing which prevent proper setting of the DIT4192 in some configurations. Questions about what power supplies to use also crop up.

Being the owner of two PCM4222EVM boards I set out to task one as a test and measurement interface. The second PCM4222EVM board will be used as converter for recording flat (non RIAA-EQ'd) phono transfers.

I won the second EVM here at the TI forum (thanks guys) and I thought I should share my experiences with the PCM4222EVM which include measurements. I also show the reader where they can drill mounting holes.
