PCM2706C: Is PCM2706C installed on PCM2706EVM-U?

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: PCM2706C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM2706EVM-U, PCM2706

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use PCM2706C for his system.

1)
Is PCM2706C installed on PCM2706EVM-U?
http://www.ti.com/tool/pcm2706evm-u
I believe PCM2706 (not C version) is installed on PCM2706EVM-U.
If the answer is yes, should my customer replace from PCM2706 to PCM2706C?

2)
Could volume controll be confirmed with PCM2706EVM-U by Windows?

Best Regards,
Yaita / Japan disty

  • Hi Diego-san,

Thank you for your kind reply.

Regarding question 2, is it possible to control volume by switching SW1-SW3?
I couldn't catch how to use these switch..

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hi, Yaita-san,

Yes, the volume of the PCM2706C can be controlled by either the operating system or the HID interface (SW1-3 in the EVM). The HID interface of the device will read the input on the HID pins and depending on the status of each pin (active high), the part will increase, decrease or mute the volume. At the same time, the volume changes of the operating system will be applied when the HID pins are inactive (logic '0').

  • Hi Diego-san,

I appreciate for your kind support.
What is the following red hex value in datasheet page 28?

I aplogize if it is basic question. I am not familiar with HID interface..

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hi, Yaita-san,

Those numbers represent the HID code for the specific function of the USB device; this is defined by USB organization. The PCM2706C falls in consumer category.
