PCM5121: SDOUT from DSP using ROM code process flow

Part Number: PCM5121
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5141

Hello Audio Folks, a customer wants to use the I2S output of PCM5121. They will use the internal ROM code process flow as well. From the process flow block diagram, looks like the I2S output is only taking from the Mono mixer. So, can the I2S output change to stereo? Customer wants the I2S out is the same as the DAC analog out.

Regards,

Kes

  • Hi, Kes,

Unfortunately, the ROM of the PCM5121 cannot be modified and the I²S output is fixed to mono as it is intended to be used for applications requiring a subwoofer. If a custom configuration is required when I²S out should be stereo according to customer needs, maybe you can suggest to use the PCM5141. This device is very similar to the PCM5121, but the PCM5141 features a fully configurable miniDSP where you can copy the same ROM structure of the PCM5121, but changing the I²S output options.
