TLV320AIC3110: TLV320AIC3110 MIC input

Part Number: TLV320AIC3110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204

Team,

Customer is going to use TLV320AIC3110 with two microphone input.

Could you share the guideline on how to connect microphone to MIC1LP/MIC1RP/MIC1LM? The microphone may be differential input or single-ended input and need to work at the same time.

Regards,

Nic

  • Hi, Nic,

The TLV320AIC3110 should be able to handle two single-ended microphones that could be connected to any of the inputs, as this codec has s mono ADC, both inputs should be mixed in the mic PGA. This is done by configuring register 48 of page 1.

  • Hi Diego,

After mixing, can the inputs be separated to two single signal? Or we need another codec that can support dual channel input? They are used for noise cancellation.

    Regards,

    Nic

  • Hi, Nic,

As mentioned, this codec has a mono ADC so the inputs cannot be separated after the ADC. You might need to use a different codec. Can you please share the codec requirements from customer so we can recommend the more adequate device?.

  • Hi Diego,

They have two independent mic input, which requires two ADC. They also want to support stereo headset with mic input.

They don't have specific spec, similar with 3110 would be better.

    Regards,

    Nic

  • Hi, Nic,

Thanks for the feedback. If no Speaker driver is needed, probably the best option could be the TLV320AIC3204. This device shares similar processing options than the TLV320AIC3110, has Stereo ADC/DAC, PGA and Micbias for the microphones and a headphone driver integrated.

  • Hi Diego,
Thanks for the recommendation. One further question: Could 3110 support digital Mic input?
Also, could you share a ref schematic of 3110?
    Regards,
    Nic
  • Hi, Nic,

The TLV320AIC3110 effectively supports one digital mic input. Regarding the reference schematic, you can refer to the typical application diagram from the datasheet [Section8.2]. Also, you can take a look to the schematic of the 'AIC3110 EVM.
