OPA2134: Is there a better op amp that will work

Hi there probaly a simple question maybe not. I have a 1988 carver stereo per-amplifier. It was recently re-capped and all new guts put in . Goggle bill d mod carver c-1.

Now all the folks are using opa2134 op -amps as the replacement. I no nothing about this. Is the 2134 the right choice. The amp sounds and works fantastic. Will get another 20 years from it.

    Hi Brian,

    OPA2134 is probably a good choice in general. Depending on the actual application circuit, there are alternatives with better noise performance. If a FET-input amplifier is required for low bias current (such as for a phono preamp), you might consider the OPA1642 or OPA1678. If a bipolar-input amplifier can be used, then you might consider OPA1602 or OPA1611.

    If the amplifier you're replacing uses the classic DIP package, any of the alternatives above will need to be installed on an adapter board, as they're only available in SOIC or smaller surface-mount packages. We offer a DIP-adapter EVM for prototyping with surface mount amplifiers: www.ti.com/.../DIP-ADAPTER-EVM, which includes a number of these boards as a small kit.
