TLV320AIC3110: Clarifications about the output power of the component

Part Number: TLV320AIC3110

Hello all,

The output power of the TLV320AIC3110 is specify as:

Stereo 1.29-W Class-D BTL 8-Ω Speaker Driver

Does it mean that output power is 2x1.29W, or 1.29W for both channels?

Second,Is the output power refers to RMS, Average power or other?

Thanks,

Nir

  • Nir,

This information is in the Datasheet in the Electrical characteristics table.

The TLV320AIC3110 is Stereo 1.29W into 8 ohms for each amplifier, when SPRVDD and SPLVDD =5.5V. This is "RMS power" It isn't common for maximum instantaneous output power be given in our audio datasheets, as we feel that it is misleading. There are some devices in the Amplifiers portfolio that have additional continuous power ratings, but these are higher power device that use the PCB for a heatsink and their ability to continuously dissipate power is reduced.

I hope that clarifies. Let me know if I can answer any other questions you have.
