TAS5414B-Q1: How to identify Pin 1 on TAS5414 in 64-pin QFP?

Part Number: TAS5414B-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5414

Has it gotten too expensive to mold a simple dimple into a plastic IC package to denote pin #1?

The TAS5414 data sheet says there is a laser burn mark on this part in the corner containing pin #1.

I see no laser burn mark.  Presumably the part's identifying markings are also laser burned, but they are barely discernible under a microscope.

Any suggestions?

  • Hi Jim,
There should be a laser burn marking next to the exposed leadframe. It is usually near pin 4 because there is a mold mark near pin 1 that does not allow for the laser to mark it. Do not confuse the marking with the logo on the other side of the leadframe.

By the way, there is a dimple on the bottom of the device, since this device has its leads bent the opposite direction for a heatsink. This dimple does NOT indicate pin 1.
