TAS5711: TAS5711 EVM Frequency response question on PBTL mode

Part Number: TAS5711

Hello

Do we have TAS5711 EVM frequency response report about Relative level / RMS level and THD ratio test report on PBTL mode like attached file. Requirement is 4 Ohm speaker and 40 W output.

Other question is we used TAS5711 EVM PBTL mode out got 35W. But change to BTL mode also got 35W output. may I ask if this is normal? Thanks for kindly help~

  • AJ,

Let me check into this and get back to you.

    Regards,

    -Adam
  • AJ,

Can you please tell me which input type you are using?

Do you have any BQ settings in the GUI?

Which hardware and software settings are you changing between PBTL and BTL mode?

In BTL mode you should not get 35W.

Is the speaker 4ohms in both your BTL and PBTL test?

    Regards,

    -Adam
  • Dear Adam.

Good day~Thank you for your reply. Please kindly reference on below. Thanks for kindly help~

Can you please tell me which input type you are using? A : 1k Hz Sine wave.

Do you have any BQ settings in the GUI? A : No

Which hardware and software settings are you changing between PBTL and BTL mode?

A : 0x07 setting to 30 and BTL just setting on below.

0x07 setting to 30 and PBTL just setting on below.

Is the speaker 4ohms in both your BTL and PBTL test?

A: Yes. is 4ohm speaker for BTL and PBTL mode.

  • Hi AJ,
The THD is around 0.2% with 4Ohm/40W as long as the PVDD is high enough to make output unclipped.
With the same input amptitude, the BTL can output the similar output power on one channel as PBTL. e.g., if output power is 10W in PBTL mode, the output is around 2*10W in BTL mode with the same input signal.

  • Hi AJ,

Please refer to the figure 33 in the TAS5711 datasheet. You can read the THD value at 40W output power. Please be noted that thermal perfomance on your board has to be very good to support high output power.

    Best regards,
