PP-SALB-EVM: How to characterize a tweeter

Hi Guys,

Using the smart amp learning board to characterize the drivers for a speaker. Would like to run the bass and tweeter with different amps.

I can easily characterize the bass driver, but how should I go about this for the tweeter? I would like to utilize the speaker protection system (based on temperature), so I do not overheat the voice-coil.

Any input is welcome.

Which device are you going to use? It seems like you are designing a 1.1 system, correct? TAS5782M and TAS5825M both have dedicated 1.1 flows.

Basically, you can follow the same steps as you characterize the woofer to characterize the tweeter. Have you seen any problem so far?

Hi Andy,

Thank you for getting back to me.

We want to utilize an existing design as the base for a new project. The idea is to have two TAS5766 in PBTL mode, for higher SPL and lower distortion at higher wattage.

When doing the characterization for the tweeter I am stuck at the model fit step. It will not recognize the fitted model based on the measured impedance etc. Should I just ignore this and use "existing data".
