PCM1796: PCM1796 application questions

Part Number: PCM1796

Hi,

One customer who use PCM1796 and need to confirm two questions:

1) How to change the volume? 

2) If we mute or pause the DAC, but we don't hope the music stop immediately, how to realize it ?

    Hi Kailyn,

    The PCM1796 has an output attenuation register (Register 16 and 17) that is used for volume control. Another rate (Register 19) has a field "attenuation rate select" for setting the attenuation rate. This rate sets how many 0.5dB steps the DAC uses to when it transitions from a different attenuation level.
