TAS5711: TAS5711

Part Number: TAS5711

Hi,

I want to switch the TAS5711 into a low power mode with-out removing the power, so we can have the fastest possible start up time.  The reconfiguration is taking too long we have just 20mS to start the amplifier to play audio.

We have a GPIO connected to pin19 PDN and are wondering if we can simply toggle this line to invoke a low power mode.  My assumptions are:-

  1. The programmed register setting remains unchanged regardless the state of PDN – Please can you confirm
  2. We are only planning to toggle the PDN pin is this a valid thing to do as this sequence is not defined in the datasheet.

Is three a better away to have register driven low power mode by register writes.  eg PWM shutdown 0x19.  What would be the optimal sequence for the lowest power mode using register writes?

  • Stephen,

I am clarifying details, I'll get back to you soon.

    Regards,

  • Stephen,

I just tried this on my EVM, I wrote a BQ register to a non-default value and then toggled my PDN pin several times. The current reduced to almost nothing while PDN was asserted and then when I released it, the current returned to the same as my idle before. I readback that register and it is identical.
