TAS5760MD: How important is the Shutdown Procedure? Most of our customers just 'pull the plug'.

The Data sheet says,

Pull SPK_SLEEP High

Pull SPK_SD Low

Then clocks can now be stopped and power supplies brought down.

There are no power buttons in our games.

Turning the switch OFF is the same as pulling the plug.

We are happy with the TPA3116 but our DAC went EOL...

    I'm a big fan of your games so thanks for those!

    This shouldn't be a problem for device safety, those recommendations are mostly to prevent pops and clicks on the output when gracefully shutting down the device.

  • On the TAS5760M (32pins) in HW mode, is FRQ/SDA latched on power up?
    I'm trying to use it in HW mode for some games and SW for newer games and we don't want two different PCBs.
    The fewer dip sws the better.

    Let me ask about the FREQ/SDA pin.

    Can you just put a solder in jumper option and just configure it at PCB assembly once?

    The FREQ/SDA pin is latched at startup. This being said, you can use the table below and provide resistor options for pulling both GAIN pins HIGH or LOW to allow the gain to be configurable as well as allowing for software mode:

    In hardware control mode (first three lines of the table above), the FREQ/SDA pin only controls whether 8*FS or 16*FS is selected, once again with a pull HIGH or LOW option. In software mode, the pin becomes the SDA of the I2C.
