Hi now our customer use TPA3221 to design as Trolley audio ,now they meet above questons as follow，tks!

questions：when output power about 60W it will happen Output discontinuity(Output card sound) and Serious distortion

support need ：1. could you help check its schematic and PCB layout ,

2. the TPA3221 is be used as single input, could you help check wherther it can output 60W power?

3. acorrding above questions,pls help give suggestions how to solve it

Hi Darren,

If the TPA3221 is clipping on the out at 60W, there are two common reasons this could happen. The input to the TPA3221 is going past the input limits, causing clipping on the inputs, or the PVDD is lower than the required peak voltage for the load used to get 60W.

With 24 dB gain setting the input needed to get 60W across 4R would be about 1Vrms. This should not be causing clipping on the input, what voltage is being applied into the input pins? The PVDD requirement is somewhere around 25V, what is the PVDD being used?

TPA3221 is be used design as 2*100W 4R, the PVDD is 30V; however, if will happy clipping on the out moer than 60W by increase input volume and the PVDD is steady；could you help check whether the layout is OK? tks!

Hi Darren,

Could you also get a scope capture of the output? How are you identifying the distortion? Was it from an AP analyzer distortion reading, hearing it, or looking at the output on a scope?
