TPA3113D2: PLIMIT voltage

Part Number: TPA3113D2

Dear sir,

Our customer is using TPA3113D2 for 2.5W 8ohm speaker.

Would you please suggest the PLIMIT voltage value??

Thank you very much.

  • Hi CK,
Please refer to the formula on the page 15 in the TPA3113D2 datasheet. I suppose you want 2.5W with 10% THD power limit on the load. Then the unclipped power is Pout=~2W. You need to measure all of the series resistance Rs in the output loop, including RDSon in the MOFSET, speaker cable resistance, inductor DCR.... Please calculate Vp with Pout, Rs, Rl by the formula, and Vplimit is ~1/4 * Vp. This is a rough estimation of the PLIMIT voltage, and it could be a little different from the real measurement. You still need to tune the divider resistance on your board, but the calculated result should be a good start point of the tuning work.
    Best regards,
