Adjusting analog input gain while the ADC is converting audio results in noise artifacts. Can this be avoided?
The input attenuators are not intended to be changed dynamically. Typically these are set once to normalize the input levels. The PGA gain can be soft stepped in registers 19 and 22. You can raise the level to once per 2 fs. Also, avoid skipping intermediate steps ( don't jump from 0dB to +10 in one step).
