[FAQ] TLV320AIC3254: Recommended power supply sequence for TLV320AIC family of CODECs

Part Number: TLV320AIC3254
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204

What is the recommended power-up sequence for the TLV320AIC3254, TLV320AIC3204 and other similar TLV320AIC CODEC devices?

  • Our TLV320 family audio devices are tolerant to power on sequences. However, there could be some rare events where the power supplies may affect the device. These events may produce digital noise on the analog side. In most extreme events, there could be risk of distortion on the ADC output. In order to avoid these issues, we recommend to separate digital from analog activity. Digital and Analog ground planes should be separated and joined in one point (this could be made with a 0-ohm resistor). Additionally, we recommend to respect the following power on sequence.

    - Power supplies: IOVDD, AVDD, DRVDD, DVDD.

    - Power supplies: SPVDD, IOVDD, AVDD, DRVDD, DVDD.
