TPA6130A2: TPA6130A2 Bandwidth?

Part Number: TPA6130A2

Team,

Can TPA6130A2 be used to amplify signal beyond 20~20kHz? We used it to amplify a 60kHz tone and drive 16ohm load. However, the output signal becomes noisy. Below is the tested frequency spectrum. Any idea why it is?

  • Hi Nic,

There is no low-pass in TPA6130A2 so it should be fine to drive high frequency signals.
However the supply rejection is reduced as frequency increases, as shown in Figures 23 to 25. Perhaps this is the cause of the noise at high frequencies.
In addition, take into account the switching frequency of the charge pump, which can be as low as 300kHz.

  • HI Ivan,
Any walkaournd can solve this noise issue? If not, could you recommend the alternative device that can be used to get clean 60kHz output? Thanks.
  • Nic,

As this could be caused by degradation of supply rejection, you could try with better supply decoupling. In addition if you want to place a low-pass filter it should have a cutoff frequency between 60kHz and 150kHz, as this is the half of the charge pump switching frequency.
