PCM4220: VCC1/VCC2 Voltage

Part Number: PCM4220

Dear, Sir.

VCC1/VCC2 Voltage range is deifined on the datasheet as typ. 4V.

However, my customer is considering apply 5V because of the special reason.

1. Is it poosible to use VCC1/VCC2 = typ. 5V?

2. If possible, Please let me know the side-effect to use such kind of condition.

Sorry to ask about this kind of matter. Please give ypur advice.

Best Regards,

H. Sakai

  • Hello Sakai-san,

There will not be any risk of damage to the device with a +5V supply since it is within the abs max voltages (image below) but since this supply voltage is outside of the recommended supply voltage range we can't confirm that the device will meet the datasheet specifications which are all provided over the recommended power-supply range you shared.  The PCM422x is a precision audio ADC and deviations away from the recommended supply voltage will likely impact the AC performance specifications but we can't firmly say which ones, or by how much. We strongly recommend operating the product within the recommended supply range.
