TAS2557: Microcontroller implementation

Hi,

Actually we use a microcontroller to talk to the TAS2557 using I2C bus. My goal is to be able to generate a configuration that I will be integrate in the firmware. First we created a project with PPC3 software then dump the binary files using the end system integration tab. So right now I have binary file, and some configuration files.From that point, what are the steps to integrate these file in the firmware ? Any idea ?

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

Unfortunately, the TAS2557 PPC3 options don't have a header file generation option that may be used as firmware configuration. There are other devices such the TAS5805M that already have this option, but the TAS2557 software doesn't have this capability so far.

The generated binary files also include some .cfg files with all the registers configuration. You could use these files as reference code in order to configure the TAS2557 through I2C bus.

Hi Luis,

They are 2 folders containing .cfg files. One folder called "srts" and another called "debug_cfg". Which folder and which .cfg I should use ?

Hi, Eric,

Please try with the folder "debug_cfg". There' s a file that starts with "combined_configuration_0". It contains all the configuration of the TAS2557.

The code lines are in format " w 98 xx yy", where "w" is the I2C write command, xx is the register address and yy is the register data.

Hi,

More questions to you. Does the configuration file you pointed me out includes speaker protection and SmartEQ functionality ? Is it correct to say that the binary and configuration files generated contains the same information to program the smart amp ?

Yes, it does. All the configuration that you select in PPC3 is included in the binary and config files.
