TPA3255EVM: Fault led comes on and one channel muted

I bought a new tpa3255evm last month. After 15 minutes of using it, the fault led comes on and it mutes one channel.

Since then numerous restart did not solve the problem. without input, with or without load the fault light does

not come on. When input is connected, then the problem is there.

By the way, I have another same board I purchased last year. That one is working quite well. To be sure, I used

the exact same power supply and load to test it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Khup,

Are you saying you don't have any issues unless the input is connected? I'm a little confused, if the fault pin goes low (LED turns on) then both channels should enter Hi-Z, not just one!

Hi Robert,

Yes. I tested to see if the fault led lights up when the load is connected or not and/or when the input is connected or not.

It does only when the input is connected.

And it does play the right channel only, with the fault light on. Thanks for responding.

Hi Robert,

Just now found out a flaw in my speaker out line. one channel +ve & -ve banana socket is touching the amp chassis which

connects the two lines. Putting a proper plastic washer solves the problem for now. No fault as yet and is playing good.

Do you think that could be the problem from the start? If so, my bad.

Since it was only affecting a single channel and not both outputs, that does indicate that you have found the leading cause! Let me know if the problem arises again.
