DRV2700EVM: Output Signal Amplification Issue

Part Number: DRV2700EVM

We are trying to amplify an analog input (e.g. sawtooth waveform) generated from a waveform generator using the DRV2700EVM.

Following the instructions on the user manual, we removed relevant resistors and capacitors, and set the jumper positions according to the boost of interest. For all the boosts up to 105 V, we found out that the output amplitude was far below the expected value. In addition, there was something like saturation happening in the output.

We're wondering what factors could lead to such results and if there is anything we can do to resolve it.

Thanks!

  • Hi, Xinyi,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

Could you provide more details about the jumpers positions, removed components, power supply level and registers configuration, please? If possible, could you also share the details of the waveforms? For example, a scope capture showing the input and output with the saturation issue. Is this possible for you? This would help us to have a better approach to this issue.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Hi Luis,

Attached are pictures of the input we generate from a waveform generator, measured input at the analog input terminals, and the output measured at the output terminal.

In this case, we set the boost to be 105V with jumper 5 and 6 open, jumper 2,3, and 4 closed. We did not change any register configuration so it should be the same as the default.

  • Hi, Xinyi,

Do you get the same results when using a capacitive load? Do you get the same results with different gains?

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Yes, we got similar results with different gains. And we tried the resistors and the piezo stack.

  • Xinyi,

I would mean if you can get the results that you expect with different gains and piezo loads. Under which conditions you get the expected device behavior?

Could you explain the pictures that you attached? I mean, could you provide details on what the input and output signals are? Could you describe the issue on your pictures? This would give us a better approach to the issue.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
