Dear, Sir.

My customer is evalating PCM1792A to apply for theor system. now.

They would like to realize the power saving to utilize /RESET pin.

1. Is it possible to realize the power saving to control /RESET = Low?

2. The IDD's are defined under normal operation mode.

Is it possible to clarify the IDD under /RESET = Low?

Hi Sakai-san,

I am not sure if asserting reset will create a low power mode. I will test this in the lab tomorrow and get back to you.

Hi Sakai-san,

The hardware I have does not allow VCC and VDD to be separated, so my measurements combined the two.

I measured approximately 32mA combined current when the PCM1792A was idle (no I2S input).

Asserting RESET did not result in power savings. The current remained approximately the same (with 500uA) when RESET was asserted.

Gating off or otherwise halting the modulator clock SCK could save power, as the power dissipation is a function of sample frequency (and hence modulator clock frequency). See the table on page 5. You'd probably want to assert a reset after the clock is re-started.

Yes, the PCM1792A fixed some minor issues with the PCM1792. The performance should be the same.
