PCM1798: Offsetdrift, Gaindrift, DNL, INL

Genius 12705 points
Part Number: PCM1798
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM4204, DAC11001A

Hello Team,

can you provide the following data for the PCM1798 and also for the PCM4204, please?

Offsetdrift, Gaindrift, DNL, INL

Settling time at maximum clock frequency

Is it possible to bypass the digital filters, please?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hi Hanz,

These are standard specifications for precision DACs, not audio DACs.  We do not have these values characterized.

Gain and offset could be pretty straight forward, so we might have some data from the initial characterization, but INL and DNL are very hard to measure on a delta-sigma DAC.  In addition, the settling time is hard to define.

The digital filter can be bypassed on the PCM1798 by enabling the external digital filter mode.

Can you tell me more about the application? Generally, when we see questions like this the customer is looking for a solution in some kind of AWG application.  Could they consider a high-resolution precision DAC like the DAC11001A?  This device has very good AWG performance.

    Thanks,

    Paul
