PCM9211: PCM9211 ARC connection with USB C

Hello,

I have been looking into PCM9211 to use with HDMI ARC port. The goal is to transfer stereo channel audio and nothing related to multi-channel data.

But it's not a direct connection from the ARC port to PCM9211, but there is a USB-C bridge in between.

Up to the HDMI version 1.4b , ALT mode for USB-C is available and USB-C's SBU pins can be used for the ARC HEAC+ and HEAC- pins.

So I'm trying to get HEAC+ data from the HDMI ARC port through USB-C SBU lines and to the RXIN pin of the PCM9211.

I have attached my very rough schematics and I want to check if this is possible.

Hi Brian,

I don't really know anything about the USB-C standard, but as long as the data is still framed according to the IEC 61937 standard and satisfies the input threshold and supported data rates of the PCM9211 then I don't see why this would be a problem. You could always attempt to verify this with an EVM!
