TLV320AIC3256: Could we use MICDET to switch the internal mic and external mic?

Hi Sir,

Our customer got some idea that they would like to let their system to having the optional external mic insertion, but they already got the internal mic connect to TLV320AIC3256. Could we let MICDET to detect the microphone have been inserted totally and let TLV320AIC3256 to switch the mic to external mic and disable the internal Dmic?

As some documents, the MICDET like the feature to identify the following plug jack will be headset, headphone or mono-headset... not sure that MICDET could work as the interrupt?

BTW, their external mic will be the differential mic and they are going to use IN3L/R for the connection.

Please advise us how to enable it on TLV320AIC3256.

Hi George,

Yes the micdet pin can be used to detect when a microphone is connected and generate an interrupt based on that detection. I would recommend your customer look at section 2.11 in the following document, which gives some more information on this feature and the associated registers:
