TAS2770: if using the TAS2770 it is known for the HPF setting and limiter setting. How if we need to use PEQ settings for the speaker unit? and if we need more equalizer setting? how we can do?

Part Number: TAS2770
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2563, TAS2557, TAS2505

Based on the TAS2770 Class-D amplifier, for the tuning parameter need to input manually through address and value by hex code.

DSP Tuning function also limited to High Pass filter and limiter only.

PEQ is not available for this amplifier.

How do we determined the DSP setting rather than just input as the HEX code at the registration setting?

Is the any GUI we can choose from? or DSP tuning we need to develop by ourself? which is other solution.

  • Hi, Muhammad,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

Our team will take a look at this and will answer as soon as possible.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Muhammad,

TAS2770 does not have internal smartamp processing features, only IV-sense.

You can take a look at devices like TAS2563.

  • Hello Ivan,

Thanks for the reply, understand the capability for TAS2770. But if a product require to use TAS2770 and our side need to tune for the PEQ, what is the solution? need to pair with different different host controller for example Xilinx 7000 series SOC.

  • Muhammad,

Do you mean you will do some processing of the audio signal on a host processor?
TAS2770 can get IV-sense data and sent it back to the host processor through I2S SDOUT pin. Not sure what you mean with PEQ.

    What are your system requirements?

    • Do you need IV-sense?
    • Do you need speaker protection like TAS2563?
    • Do you need simple processing like biquads for EQ?
    • Are boosted amplifiers OK? or need direct voltage supply?
    • How much output power is required and what load impedance?

  • Hello Ivan,

The PEQ is the type of equalizer with several parameters to control various filter that can be applied to audio signal.

There are some equalizer to control for example gain, Q and frequency.

It's more like GUI (Graphic User Interface) to control other parameter.

For this TAS2770 we can only control the HPF (High Pass Filter) and limiter. Cut-off also from 2Hz ~ 800Hz.

And it is fixed value, and unable to shift to value in between.

    Thank you,

    Best regards,

  • Hi Muhammad,

That's correct, TAS2770 does not have other processing tools.

As mentioned, you can consider devices with embedded processing like:

    • TAS2563 - Boosted (internal boost for increased output power, but can be bypassed for higher external voltage source), smartamp, embedded EQ, DRC, limiter and speaker protection
    • TAS2557 - Same as TAS2563 but a previous version
    • TAS2505 - Low power Class-D amplifier with embedded EQ (biquads)

Perhaps there are some other options in the mid-power amplifiers but don't know what are your output power requirements.
