CCS/PCM9211EVM-U: I2S to S / PDIF

Part Number: PCM9211EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM9211, DIT4096, DIT4192

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Can PCM9211 support converting I2S to S / PDIF?

How to set up the register and GUI, do I need MCLK input?

  • Hi,

Yes, the PCM9211 does support I2S to S/PDIF conversion using the auxiliary inputs on the device. You do need to provide an SCK/MCLK signal on the I2S port you choose to use. Register settings just require you to select the MPIO port you intend to use for I2S and route that to the DIT of the device. I would suggest you go through the datasheet section on the DIT and auxiliary inputs and let us know if you have any questions!

If you are only using the PCM9211 for I2S to S/PDIF, then you may consider using one of our DIT products instead, such as the DIT4096 or DIT4192. These are intended for I2S to S/PDIF or AES conversion and are a bit simpler since their feature set is heavily reduced compared to PCM9211.

    Best,

    Zak
