[FAQ] TLV320AIC3104: Using CODEC for DC measurements

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104

Hi,

I am using the TLV320AIC3104 to measure a DC signal. What kind of Gain Error results can I expect? What codes should I be seeing on DOUT?

Regards,

Aaron

  • Hello,

Gain Error results taken on a TLV320AIC3104 are shown below. The Gain Error for the Left ADC is roughly 1.44dB and 1.30dB for the Right ADC. It should be noted that the Gain Error value in the data sheet is a typical value and has no set min/max value. Since these devices are primarily used for AC signals, the devices are not trimmed for Gain Error. This information holds true for the TLV320AIC310x family while actual Gain Error values may vary.

The output of the device is in Binary Two’s Complement. With 16-bit resolution, as an example, the code range will be -8000h to 7FFFh.

    Regards,

    Aaron
