TLV320AIC3106: are digital microphone and ADC mutually exclusive?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106

I want to verify that we cannot use an analog source and a digital microphone at the same time.

i saw this in section 11.3.9 paragraph 3, last sentence of the AIC3106 datasheet:

"When digital microphone mode is enabled, neither ADC can be used for digitizing analog inputs."

it seems pretty clear but i want to be very sure i am reading that correctly, that you are either ALL digital input or ALL analog input, but you cannot be half of one and half of another.

thanks

  • Hello,

You can use one ADC for DMIC and the other for Analog mic. I thing that the data sheet is poorly worded and that it meant to say that if a DMIC is connected to an ADC, that ADC cannot be used for analog digitization.

I hope this helps to add some clarification!

    Regards,

    Aaron

  • by ADC do you mean right/left ADC that the analog inputs route to?

the register to select the digital mic instead of one of the analog lines - is it reg 107 "ADC Decimation Filter configuration"? if that isn't how you select the digital mic what register is used?
