TAS5805M: TAS5805M - Startup Procedure

Part Number: TAS5805M

Hi,

Datasheet startup procedure (section 9.5.3.1) mentioned

"It is important to note that I2C control port register changes should only occur when the device is placed into SLEEP. This can be accomplished by configuring Register 0x3h-D[1:0] in the control register."

Since the device power up in DEEP SLEEP mode, must we still set register 0x03 = 0x02 before we can configure other registers?

If we keep it in DEEP SLEEP mode and continue to configure other registers, after all register completed, then set 0x03 =0x03 (PLAY).

What will happen?

  • Hi,

First of all, which version TAS5805M datasheet are you using? The lasted Revision C does not have such sentence.

What's more, the Startup procedure should be followed. It means set the device into Hiz mode before configuring DSP parameters. The reason is 1st time Hiz enable DSP booting, which will refresh to default values. So if the 1st time Hiz is located in the end, then the refresh will clear previous configurations.

    Regards,

    Matthew

  • Dear Mathew,

You are right, I always see '03 02' set right at the beginning of .h or .cfg file generated by PPC3.

This is the version I used:

  • Dear Matthew,

If we keep it in DEEP SLEEP mode and continue to configure other registers, after all register completed, then set 0x03 =0x03 (PLAY).

    What will happen?

We recently found 15~20% of units has no output after power up.

    Best Regards,

    CK

  • Hi CK,

As for the no output issue debug, it's suggested to readback Book0-Page0-Reg 0x68 (status) & Reg0x70-0x74 (Fault).

Per mentioned, if configure all parameters in Deep Sleep, then set into Play mode. The DSP configurations might be refreshed to initial value.

    Regards,

    Matthew
