S/PDIF output for RCA Jack

Part Number: PCM9211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DIT4096,

Dear Sir,

Would it be OK to use MPO1/MPO0 as coaxial (RCA) output? PCM9211EVM has optical output schematic but does not show an example for RCA, would it be similar to DIT4096? If not, what's the reference design should be? Thanks!

Regards,

Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

The MPO of the PCM9211 is more a general purpose digital output and is not intended for driving RCA or BNC cables directly. It only has about 4mA output current capability, so you will want to include a line driver buffer to handle the cable loading.

    Best,
