TAS2563: impedance curve, resonance frequency, and equalizer settings

Part Number: TAS2563

Is there a way determine the impedance curve and the resonance frequency in the hardware application? Can this only be done with PPC3 in the characterization procedure?

Also, is it possible to have multiple register maps stored for different EQ settings per volume step and be able to change these in near real-time without any glitches or artifacting?

  • Hello David,

I believe the impedance curve and the resonance frequency can only be measured via PPC3 with a Smart Amp device with integrated DSP. Since those parameters are speaker dependent, they can also be requested from the speaker manufacturer.

Regarding the second question, different EQ settings are saved as snapshots in the tuning stage of the development. Different settings are usually tuned for different application (i.e. one for voice on speaker, and one for music playback). Switching between different EQ settings may require a short pause in audio playback as it requires the step to overwrite the tuning coefficients.

Let me know if you have further questions
