[FAQ] TAS2770: Can the device drive DC output?

Part Number: TAS2770

Is TAS2770 capable of driving DC outputs for alternative application, rather for audio output?

  • Yes, Even though TAS2770EVM is a Class-D amplifier, it can also be used to drive DC outputs by following the steps listed below:

    1. Disable the HPF (located in Book 0, Page 0, Reg. address 0x04) by writing  0x00 to register 0x04
    2. Attach a low-pass filter at the output of the device to filter out the Class-D switching frequencies.
    3. Feed a digital DC signal to the input of the device.
    4. Adjust the gain by going in toPPC3>Device Control>Playback> Amplifier level or Volume

Note: Please be mindful of the continuous output power of the device.
