TAS2555: Is there a better solution for our application?

Hello TI,

We are designing an audio system for an alarm clock application. Our customer has chosen the Tectonic TEBM28C10-4/A as a driver (https://www.tectonicaudiolabs.com/product/tebm28c10-4-a-minature-bmr-driver/?id=product-1986).

We were advised by an industry expert that the ~6W of the TAS2555 may be inadequate. However, the requirement for max output is 65dbA @ 2 ft. We need the I2S interface and like the DSP features of the 2555. Are there better solutions?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding the output power of the TAS2555, is the customer looking for higher or lower power?

Hi Luis,

Thanks for the reply. The sound output requirement was called out as 65dBA at 2 feet. This is attainable at less than 1 W. But we had an industry expert suggest that 6W would leave us short. I believe the 6W amp is plenty, but when an expert chimes in I want to listen. In addition, our customer wants to be sure we don't under-design at this point.

As of now, I have a TAS2555YZEVM coming in which we'll use to evaluate that particular solution.
