TAS5411-Q1: Doesn't Amplify

Part Number: TAS5411-Q1

Team,

The issue is that when I boot up, the part doesn’t amplify and it doesn’t answer to its published I2C address.  I can address it using another address.  Instead of xD8 for read and xD9 for write, the chips are responding to xC0 and xC1.

I’ve tried this with 3 chips, all from the same Digi-Key order and they all behave the same.  At one point I thought that I had figured it out.  When I tested the first two chips, I grounded the bypass BPY pin.  Before I solder on the last chip, I fixed that.  Now the BPY voltage is about 6.9VDC, but I have a bad configuration and I2C address.  Registers 1 through 3 read x04, x11, x33.  I take this to mean that there’s been a bad load, there’s a short detected from output to PVDD and the PWM is set to 500kHz with minimal gain and max voltage permitted.

With regards to the output to PVDD short, my multimeter disagrees with that diagnosis.

Please let me know your thoughts.
