TLV320AIC3104: Schematic review and reference register setting

Part Number: TLV320AIC3104

Hi team,

could you help review below schematic, customer need microphone detection, please help check the microphone detection circuit is correct or not.

and, they use TLV320AIC3104 in e-call application, do you have the reference register setting can share to customer?

thanks.

  • Hello Betty,

Please find my comments below on the schematic:

    • Unused inputs should be terminated by AC coupling them to GND via 0.47uF capacitor.
    • We recommend adding small series resistance (~33ohms) to the digital interface pins.
    • I cannot see how the supplies are generated but make sure there is good decoupling and that the decoupling caps are placed close to the pins of the device.

Regarding the mic detection, it looks as if the input configuration is not set up properly. MIC2L is the dedicated MICDET pin but looks like it is being used for a MIC input. I have attached an app note here that explains the configurations of MICDET and the customer should be able to follow.

We do not have a preset register configuration for an e-call application and things get a little tricky as I do not know what their input clock frequency (MCLK or BCLK if not using MCLK) is. If you can provide what input clock frequency is, I can provide a simple register configuration for:

    • PLL/Clock divider settings
    • Analog input on MIC2R
    • Headset detection enabled (Assuming the schematic is changed)
    • Analog output at LEFT_LOP/M

  • Hi Aaron,

thanks. what the applicaiton note about MICDET? I don't see the app note?

  • Hi  Betty,

I am not sure why it wasn't attached. Here it is again. Let me know if it made it through this time.

    Regards,

    Aaron

  • Thans Aaron.

customer have update their circuit, pelase help check if correct. they still have concern about microphone detection. I attached customer's microphone datasheet.

For the datasheet or A/N,both use passive microphone, but they use active microphone, pleae check if below circuit can support active mircrophone detect.

  • Hello Betty,

This looks much better. I do not see anything wrong with the MICDET function. Please keep in mind that the unused inputs are not properly terminated. Please follow my previous comments on how to properly do so.

    Regards,

    Aaron
