PCM9211: PCM9211

Part Number: PCM9211

hello,

can PCM 9211 accepts direct HDMI ARC 1.4 output from my TV?

Using pin no 19 and 14 as HEAC+ and HEAC-

If yes can i convert it to analog stereo audio signal?

Anyone worked on this type of project?

  • Hi,

The PCM9211 can accept HDMI ARC 1.4, but NOT eARC. The inputs to PCM9211 are only single-ended though so you would only use the HEAC+ pin and the device is really designed for 2 channels of data so if you are trying to convert to I2S there will be some limitations. The device can output an S/PDIF signal on the MPO pins, but it cannot convert to an analog stereo signal that you might use to drive a speaker or such.

    Best,

    Zak

  • ok. thank you.

HDMI ARC 1.4 HEAC+ to I2C is possible? so we can use I2C as input and analog audio output class D audio amp chip?

is this best reliable solution for commercial purpose?

    please replay.

  • Hi Nitin,

I2C is only used for configuration, audio data is transmitted over I2S. HDMI ARC is formatted very similarly to S/PDIF, so you should be able to translate this to an I2S output using the PCM9211, keeping in mind that the PCM9211 only supports 2 channels of audio over I2S. You could then feed that signal to a digital input, analog output class D audio amp.

    Best,

    Zak
