TLV320ADC6140: MicBias track to Vref

Part Number: TLV320ADC6140

Hi team,

Reading the datasheet, I understand that the operating voltage of the ADC or VREF is 2.75V when an input level of 2Vrms is required. So does that mean the offset of the driving op amps should be 2.75V/2 = 1.375V, in case of a DC coupled input?

Is it possible to set the MicBias equal to VREF?

How accurately does MicBias track to VREF? The datasheet says 0.1% min to 1.8% max, but that I interpret more as the consistency under load. My customer is thinking of using the MicBias for generating the offset, hence the interest in the tracking accuracy.

Thanks,

Connie

  • Hi Connie,

The bias at the mic inputs tends to be just slightly higher, around 1.45V, but it would be okay to bias from VREF as indicated as long as the device is placed in DC coupled mode. The MICBIAS can be set to VREF. It's tracking to VREF is the MICBIAS load regulation spec which depends on the loading of MICBIAS. If there is relatively little load it should track much closer to the typical spec.

    Best,

    Zak
