TLV320DAC3100: PSpice model

Part Number: TLV320DAC3100

Hi team,

My customer wants to test TLV320DAC3100 behavior with a resistive load of 8 Ohms which their production tester uses to see whether it shows the same results as 8 Ohm speakers. Do you have experience with this or a PSpice model to simulate?

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi, Franz,

Unfortunately, we don't have a PSpice model for this device. We only have a IBIS model available in the TLV320DAC3100 product folder.

The TLV320DAC3100 supports 8-ohms speaker loads without issues. Do you have information about the requirements or the data that the customer needs for this device? We can perform some tests or contact our characterization/design team to get the information for the customer.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.

  • Hi Luis,

They want to test the DAC/Amp on an 8 Ohm resistor in production and measure response before assembling the speaker. So they find possible production issues before speaker assembly. This is why they want to see whether TLV320DAC3100 behaves the same way with the resistor compared to a speaker. Do you have experience with this and/or data?

    Thank you,

    Franz

  • Hi, Franz,

In order to replace a speaker load by passive components, we often use a resistor + inductor. The most part of the tests we perform with our audio devices are done with a 8ohms + 33uH load. TLV320DAC3100 electrical characteristics won't suffer a significant difference in case the inductor is not included. But it allows having a more precise idea about the power consumption, frequency response, output power and THD+N levels.

This array will behave similarly to a speaker load. However, for more specific information, I suggest to verify the speaker datasheet or contact the speaker manufacturer in order to get the speaker inductance value.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
