PCM5122: Does reaching the high SNR index need to configure internal interpolation filter

Part Number: PCM5122

Hi,

Could you please tell me the signal-to-noise ratio that PCM5122 can achieve is necessary to configure the filter inside the chip to achieve it?

Is it the configuration of interpolation filter to reach the high SNR index of PCM5122? Thank you!

  • Hi Zirui Su,

The different digital filter options in the PCM5122 should all achieve the same signal-to-noise ratio.  The output is noise limited in the audible band, and the digital filter has the most impact outside of the fS/2 frequency range.  The digital filters impact the noise shaping, and some perceptive listeners can detect audible differences between them (golden ears).

The default filter should be fine in nearly all cases.

    Thanks,

    Paul
