Audio L,R to SPDIF conversion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL074, PCM9211, DIT4192, PCM1804

Hi

can you recommend a TI solution for this function, NO DSP, NO programming,no graphical entry, just plain  hardwired solution required.

Audio L,R in -----> AMP ----> ADC -------> SPDIF conversion -----> to Cable

Audio L,R is converted to SPDIF and transmitted over cable.

Minimal number of components preferred.

thanks

Derek

The above requires 4 channels so each function above should be 4 channels (Quad Devices)

  • Derek,

A good starting point would be the TL074 + 2x PCM1804 + 2x DIT4192 (in hardware mode).  However, you could also combine the ADC + SPDIF circuitry by using the 2x PCM9211 (in hardware mode) to replace the PCM1804 and DIT4192.  Depending on what the input voltage is, if it is less than 1Vrms the PCM9211 also has an integrated amp so that the TL074 could be removed as well.

This second solution would require loopback of the ADC input - to - I2S output so that it can be routed to the DIT.
