TPA3116D2 - Static noise on the output

Hi I am using the TPA3116D2 which is being fed by a Audio DSP. PVCC is 18V and I am running single ended signals through a 1uF capacitor (with the minus inputs running to ground through a 1uF cap as well). I have all 3 AM inputs tied to ground but I am getting a significant static and popping sound from the speakers. The sound seems to appear when the I2S clock is turned on, though I check for any ground noise but I don't see any. I am lost as to what to do to prevent this annoying sound. Oh by the way its a 4 layer board with Ground on the inner layer

Hi Mike,

Pop noises are usually a result of mismatch between + and - ends of the channel. check your OUTNx and OUTPx components, what kind of tolerance are those parts. If you also have a schematic you can share I can take a look.

Hi Brian

Thanks for the reply... I have checked my components and they seem to be right, in regards to the tolerance, the resistors are @ 1% and the caps are @ 10%. I have also attached my schematic per your request. I tried to follow the example of the EVM schematic, though I have slightly difference component values on the output stage (perhaps this can be the cause). Anyway I look forward to your reply.

Hi Mike,

I took a look at the schematic, everything looks OK. You said the pop sound occurs when the I2S clock is turned on, is this a constant repetitive pop, or more of a start up pop?
