OPA1678: the differece between opa1678 and NE5532

Part Number: OPA1678
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: NE5532,

Dear TI,

we want to use OPA1678 to replace NE5532, but it sounds NE5532 is better performance than OPA1678.

could you help to provide the differece between them?

thanks a lot!

  • Hi Zong Tang,

Did you have a particular specification that you noticed the NE5532 performing better in?

My reading of the datasheets shows that OPA1678 performs better than the NE5532 in the following specifications:

    • offset voltage (2mV vs. 4mV)
    • input bias current (10pA vs. 200nA)
    • gain bandwidth (16MHz vs. 10MHz)
    • noise (4.5nV/√Hz vs. 5nV/√Hz, 0.003pA/√Hz vs. 0.7pA/√Hz)
    • quiescent current (2mA/channel vs. 4mA/channel)

Both are equal in the following specifications:

    • CMRR (100dB)
    • PSRR (100dB)
    • Slew Rate (9V/µs)

Based on this, I'd consider the OPA1678 to be a higher performance part (and at half the power consumption, as well)
