Matched transistors

I am designing cascode differential amplifiers using 2N3906s.  Are ammo packaged 2N3906s (say on the same reel) typically coming out of the same processing batch such that they would be inherently "matched"?

  • Hello Jim,

Thank you for using E2E for your engineering inquiry, however, please note that TI does not produce 2N3906 or bipolar transistors in general.  As a general comment, typically devices that are provided on a continuous reel or package do come from the same production line/process.  You might want to contact a manufacturer of 2N3906 if the need to have matched-pair devices is critical; alternatively, you could screen/match devices prior to assembly onto the pcb.

    At your service,

  • Thank you Leonard. I do have an email in to ON Semiconductor (Fairchild) about this but no answer yet.

    Regards,
