TPA2012D2: TPA2012D2 Power-up condition

Part Number: TPA2012D2

Hi all,

Could you let me know if there is a restriction for power-up and down condition of TPA2012DA?

I wonder there is a threshold  voltage for internal logic reset (PoR) etc...

Can it be powered from  midpoint voltage?

Best regards,

  • Hi Sakai-san,

TPA2012D2 is powered only by PVDD/AVDD, which are actually connected to the same voltage. So as soon as this supply voltage is above 2.5V, it is ready to go.
You can pull-down SDR and SDL to keep the device in shutdown mode while the supply voltage ramps up, once the supply is completely powered up you can release SDR and SDL.

For best performance, you should either power up or power down the supply. What do you mean by midpoint voltage?

  • Hi Ivan-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

When power supply  doesn't have discharge circuit, PVDD/AVDD of TPA2012 is not fully discharged in power off - on cycle.

If system powers off and on quickly, VDD wil transit like 5V -> 2V -> 5V.

Is this O.K.? All we have to do is holding SDL and SDR low during power on - off cycle?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Sakai-san,

Holding SDR and SDL low is the correct thing to do. I think this should be OK as long as the device is in shutdown while supply voltage is not stable.
