PCM512XSW-LINUX: Driver support ALSA

Part Number: PCM512XSW-LINUX

Hello expert,

I have question for PCM512XSW-LINUX.
Our customer look for DAC which has Linux driver. However customer require ALSA supported Driver.
Unfortunately, I don't have Linux driver experience so I cannot distinguish which support ALSA or not.
So could you tell me about whether this driver can support ALSA?

Customer need answer ASAP so I'm looking forward to hearing back from you immediately.

Best regards,
Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

My understanding is that this driver is ALSA compatible.  The menuconfig file is even commented as:

    Symbol: SND_SOC_PCM512x_I2C [=y]
    Type : tristate
    Prompt: Texas Instruments PCM512x CODECs - I2C
      Location:
        -> Device Drivers
-> Sound card support (SOUND [=y])
-> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (SND [=y])
-> ALSA for SoC audio support (SND_SOC [=y])

Our team does not support the creation of Linux drivers anymore, and we have no experts on how to create them.  This device is very commonly used in linux systems so I believe this driver should suffice.

    Thanks,

    Paul
